Harlem Renaissance High School's students are individuals who have not fully made the most of their 9th grade year for whatever reasons. They are given the opportunity to refresh and catch up with their peers. A Diploma Plus model school, the curriculum is based on a portfolio and workshop model classrooms. The Diploma Plus strategy gives a multi-tiered achievement premise which puts students into meaningful internship assignments, college classes, seminars, and broad-based community service programs. This allows us to stay true to our mission, and our focus remains on the student’s emotional, social and academic well-being. The co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are set up with this in mind, and our partnerships are selected based on how well they align with our mission. The Diploma Plus model was chosen because it's tailor to benefit the students; FOCUS and other tools compliment that model. |
